Comments
MIL-S-5059
MIL-S-5059 was cancelled effective September, 1993. This specification covered a variety of alloy/temper combinations. The AMS specifications should be used as replacements for MIL-S-5059.
QQ-S-766
QQ-S-766 was cancelled effective July, 1993. It has been replaced by the ASTM specifications listed in the table above. Use the following guidelines for requesting the correct replacement specification:
  • Cold Worked Grades (Tempered): ASTM-A-666
  • Precipitation Hardening Grades (17-7): ASTM-A-693
  • Other grades, including Annealed (soft): ASTM-A-240
MIL-S-25043
MIL-S-25043 was cancelled effective May, 1997. This specification was specific to the 17-7 grade. The corresponding AMS specifications in the table above are to be used as replacements for MIL-S-25043.
AMS-5515
AMS-5515 is the specification for 302 Annealed with a Carbon (C) content of .08 - .15. Brown Metals Company purchases material to meet both 302 / 304. Because 304 has a maximum Carbon (C) reading of .08, we are not able to certify to AMS-5515. All 302 / 304 material at Brown Metals Company will have a Carbon reading LESS THAN .08.

Specifications, cancellation notices, and other documents can be obtained by contacting Document Engineering (1-800-MIL-SPEC).
